Heart and Stroke - Basic Life Support Instructor

This Heart and Stroke BLS Instructor Program prepares candidates to effectively instruct the Heart and Stroke 2020 BLS programs. Course fee includes are required materials to teach the provider and renewal courses, and no gst added!

  • Core Instructor Course
  • Heart and stroke instruction techniques
  • Instructor materials

The following are the prerequisite that a student is required to have before being allowed into this course:

  • Current Heart and Stroke- BLS for Health care Provider (C) within 12 months prior to the instructor course.
  • Approved HS BLS Instructor application that is found directly on the Heart and Stroke website after you log into your portal. This application is $55 that you will have to pay directly to the Heart and Stroke.
  • Once the application is submitted you will need to search for this course ID number and sign up. AHASTI will accept you. You will then be assigned the CORE Program which is 100% completed online. This component is $35 paid directly to the Heart and Stroke. Completion of the CORE Program will need to be submitted to the instructor on the day of your in-class.
  • All fees paid directly to the Heart & Stroke are in addition to fees paid to AHASTI.


The BLS Instructor Course is comprised of two separate 1-day training modules, delivered by a Heart and Stroke Foundation Instructor Trainer:
The Core Instructor Course, and
The Basic Life Support Instructor Training Module

The Core Instructor Course (CIC) is a foundational course required by all Heart and Stroke Foundation Instructor-Candidates. This course teaches Instructor-Candidates how to apply effective communication techniques, manage the classroom environment, and promote knowledge and skill transfer and retention.

The Basic Life Support Instructor Training Module introduces the Instructor-Candidate to the educational materials and course outlines utilized in the delivery of the Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS provider courses.

The two day BLS Instructor course includes the "silver" pack of instructor materials which is the materials to teach the BLS provider and BLS renewal courses. Should you also want to instruct the blended learning options, additional materials will need to be purchased. This can be done after completing your instructor program from the Heart and Stroke portal.
