Discipline Specific - First Aid and CPR Instructor

This is the Discipline Specific component in the Canadian Red Cross Instructor Development Pathway for individuals who would like to teach: CPR level A or C, Emergency and Standard First Aid, Emergency and Standard Childcare First Aid, Marine Basic First Aid and reverts for these levels.

hdgPrerequisites

The following are the prerequisite that a student is required to have before being allowed into this course:

  • Successfully completed a skills evaluation of Standard First Aid with CPR level C/AED skills within the past 60days.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Instruction within the last six (6) months.

This is the Discipline Specific component in the Canadian Red Cross Instructor Development Pathway for individuals who would like to teach: CPR level A or C, Emergency and Standard First Aid, Emergency and Standard Childcare First Aid, Marine Basic First Aid and reverts for these levels.

Red Cross has set a class minimum of 4 confirmed candidates. All course materials will be available for pick up from our course location 7 days prior. If you'd like them shipped there will be an additional fee.


Each candidate at the completion of this componenent in the Instructor Development Pathway will be required to complete the online Teach Experience Program and complete a Teach Experience at the Standard First Aid Level with a Teach Experience Supervisor. AHASTI does offer one scheduled date for this option at no charge. Any changes to this scheduled date after confirmation, maybe subject to additional fees.

Upon successful completion of this program you will have earned the following tickets:

  • First Aid and CPR Discipline Specific - All candidates will be required to complete the online Teach Experience and complete a Teach Experience in order to gain full certification

hdgAdditional Information

To maintain certification once competed, each Alberta Based instructor will be required to teach a minimum of 2 workplace approved programs per certification year to qualify for recertification. Workplace approved courses in AB are Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid or Standard First Aid Recert.
One of the above must be the Standard First Aid within the 3 year certification period.
