Registration and COVID Policy

COVID-19/Coronavirus – Your safety is our Priority!

AHASTI is committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and program quality. Each participant will be maintaining social distance while attending our programs. In the advanced level courses, where some skills require close proximity training, masks will be provided. All equipment used is cleaned and disinfected after each student’s use and additional cleaning/sanitization products are available in all classrooms for participants additional comfort.

We ask any participant to contact our office BEFORE coming to class if they have a fever or respiratory symptoms; they have recently travelled to a country with a travel advisory due to COVID-19; if they have been in contact with a person who has travelled to a country with a travel advisory; or been in close contact with a confirmed COVID case. In this case, AHASTI will happily reschedule your program after the required isolation time has passed. If we have not heard from you, we assume you will be joining your program as scheduled, and if you do not arrive on time a no show and forfeit of course fees will apply.

All registrants are welcome bring and wear a mask and/or gloves during their training. - As the Alberta Health Authority recommends wearing a mask for situations where social distancing is not able to be maintained, AHASTI as indicated above has organized classes to meet social distancing requirements. If participants wish to wear a mask and/or gloves, we ask that you bring more than one, as the lowering/removal of the mask is still required for the ventilation skills and to demonstrate proper donning and doffing (putting on and taking off) gloves as part of the program. We do have hand sanitization stations is all classrooms as well as hand washing facilities. The equipment will be cleaned and disinfected for your use only during your program.

Cancellations / Change of date
AHASTI Customer Service can be reached via phone at 403-670-5406 Monday to Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm or via email at customerservice@safetyed.ca. If we happen to miss your phone call, please leave a detailed message if you wish to make changes to your registration. Without a voicemail, your request will not be completed in accordance with the below.

Exceptions to these policies are on the sole discretion of AHASTI management only and incur additional administration fees if approved.
Course material fees are non-refundable once materials have been issued.

Online Only Courses:

Online course access is issued during AHASTI Customer Service hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Once the online access has been issued and regardless of activation by the participant; refunds, transfers or partial refunds are not available. AHASTI will assist registrants if possible, with access issues, however this system is owned by the Canadian Red Cross. If the issue is out of the control of AHASTI, then the registrant will be required to deal directly with the Canadian Red Cross help desk.
If a registration error has occurred by the registrant or the registrant wishes to change or upgrade, please notify AHASTI immediately. If the online access has not yet been issued, a change in program can be completed for just the course fee difference. If online access has been issued, the new course and full course fee will apply.

Courses under $175:

Courses with an online component:
Once the online component has been issued no refunds for that component are available. Please see Online Only Course Policy above. Online Course completion or proof of the pre-requisite must be brought to the in-class component. If they do not complete the online for any reason, they will not be allowed to participate in the in-classroom learning and must rebook. Re-bookings are subject to a $40.00 + GST transfer fee.

Courses with a required pre-requisite:
If a registrant arrives without proof of the pre-requisite, they may attend the program with the understanding that it must be presented to the instructor prior to end of the program. Without proof of the pre-requisite the registrant will not be recorded as completed and will forfeit all fees regardless of attendance results. If once the pre-requisite is presented and it is for a different program, the registrant will be required to rebook. Re-bookings fees are based on the new course requirements. Cancellation requests received more than five (5) days before the course start date (excluding the day of the course) will be processed with a $10 + GST cancelation fee. Requests received five (5) days or less are not eligible for a refund. Registrants wishing to change their course date more than two (2) days prior to the program may do so at no charge. Any course fee differences will be collected at the time of the request. Changes within two days before the course start will not be permitted.

Change of date requests:
Within two days or on the day of the course will not be permitted and any student not in attendance for the program as scheduled will forfeit all registration fees. Any student who arrives 15 mins after a program has started will not be permitted into the program and a rebooking fee will apply. We encourage all our participants to arrive 15 mins before the schedule start time. For more information – please contact our Customer Service

Courses $175 and over:

Proof of online course completion or proof of the pre-requisite must be brought to the in-class component. If you are not able to provide proof by the end of day one or have not completed the online for any reason, they will not be allowed to participate in the in-classroom learning and will forfeit all registration fees.

Cancellations received more than seven (7) days before the course start date (excluding the day of the course) will be processed with a $25 + GST cancelation. Notification received seven (7) days or less are not eligible for a refund. Registrants wishing to change their course date seven (7) to three (3) days prior to the program may do so and are subject to a $100 + GST transfer fee.
Change of date requests within two days (2) of the day of the course will not be permitted and any student not in attendance for the program as scheduled will forfeit all registration fees.

Emergency Medical Responder Program does not follow these policies as each student signs a Private Vocational Agreement and it will be followed without exception.

AHASTI cancels a course:
AHASTI reserves the right to cancel classes. Cancellation notices are via email only. In the unlikely event that your training course does not take place after your booking has been confirmed, we will make every effort to reschedule the course and you will be offered an alternative date to take the course. If an alternative date is not agreed upon, a full refund will be issued. Refunds may take up to two weeks to process.

Third Party Registrations and Payments (companies, parents, spouses, friend, etc.):
As a third-party registrant, you agree to these policies on behalf of the student. It is the third party’s responsibility to ensure the student receives all communication for the program. AHASTI will not release any of the Student’s personal information, including grades, or transcripts, to the third party without the Student’s prior written consent.

Inherent Risk:
Risk is inherent in all courses. By participating in these courses, it is understood that you are aware of this element of risk and accept it as an integral part of the activity. If you have any limitations please identify them at the time of registration.

Behaviour Policy:
AHASTI strives to provide our students with a safe and appropriate environment to facilitate learning. If AHASTI’s staff determine that a student’s behaviour is disruptive or threatening, the staff may take any action he or she deems prudent, including discussing the matter with the student, asking the student to leave or calling the police.
